Episode 5: The Common Data Set: An Underutilized Resource and How to Use it

Join us as we discuss an important and informative data source called the Common Data Set Initiative. Colleges that participate in the CDS provide useful information about first time in college admissions, including how they review academic and nonacademic factors, ACT/SAT scores, GPA, and class rank. Other information found in the CDS is around class sizes, transfer students, financial aid, and other data that is not found elsewhere.

Check out our social media posts on some of the key parts of the College Data Set Initiative, including how to find a college’s CDS, how to use the College UnMazed College Data Organizer (CDO) to organize a student’s list by academic and nonacademic factors, and other interesting data that can help students make a more informed college decision.
